Questions

About Textle, the daily word puzzle.

What is Textle?

Textle is a free daily word puzzle. Everyone gets the same six-letter word each day. You start with ten coins, buy clues to narrow the word down, and have three guesses to find it. Your score is the coins you spend, so lower is better.

How do I play Textle?

Open the Shop and tap a clue to see what it does and what it costs, then buy the ones you want. Clues include a check for a letter, the word’s vowels, a rhyme or a synonym. Guess whenever you like: a wrong guess costs 2 coins and shows any letters in the right spot. The How to play page explains every clue.

How is Textle different from Wordle?

Both give everyone the same word each day. In Wordle you find it by guessing, and each guess colors your letters. In Textle you mostly find it with clues you buy, and you get only three guesses. Your score is the coins you spent rather than the number of guesses, so solving with fewer clues beats solving with more.

When does the new Textle come out?

A new word unlocks every day at midnight in your time zone. The game shows a countdown to the next one once you’ve finished today’s.

How does scoring work, and what is par?

Solve it and your score is the coins you spent: 0 is perfect, and 10 means you used them all. An unsolved game has no score. Par is the middle score of the day’s finished games; spend fewer coins than par to beat it.

What happens when I run out of coins?

You can still guess. A wrong guess when you have no coins left ends the game, and so does a wrong last guess.

Is Textle free? Do I need an account?

Textle is free to play in your browser. There’s no account and nothing to install: it keeps an anonymous id in your browser, so you can come back to today’s game and keep your streak.

Can I share my result without spoiling the word?

Yes. A shared result shows one row per guess, with the letters you knew after it, and a bulb for each clue you bought before it. It never shows the word or which clues you bought.

Does every day have the same clues?

Six clues are there every day. Three more are picked to suit each day’s word.

How do I get in touch?

Use Send feedback in the game. You’ll find it in How to play and on your result. Include a way to reach you if you’d like a reply.
